This chapter really had a little bit of everything, didn't it? My heart was fluttering and racing the entire time! First of all, can we please talk about how surprisingly cute the beginning was?! 🥺 Watching big, stern King Joshua completely lose his usual cool composure just because he caught Lisette wandering around late at night in her nightgown was so endearing! Swooning so hard right now! 🙈 Seeing him react so quickly to scoop her up and carry her back to her room was such a sweet, protective side of him that we rarely get to see. He looked so adorably flustered, and I was honestly grinning like a fool at my desk while typing that whole scene! 🛏️💖
Things definitely took a dark turn right after that, though... DUN DUN DUN! 🥁💥 You could genuinely feel the temperature in the room plunge to freezing cold the exact second that mysterious glowing stone slipped out of her dress and hit the floor! 😱💀 Seeing Joshua’s dark, suspicious glare when he realized what she was holding was genuinely nerve-wracking. I was holding my breath! 🧊🐺
But what completely blew me away was Lisette’s bravery! Taking such a massive, terrifying risk by offering to voluntarily marry him in exchange for visiting Adora in the human world?! Talk about high-stakes bargaining! And seeing our tough Alpha King actually soften up and agree to her terms was so touching. He really cares about her happiness! 👑🌸
That being said, his condition makes this agreement so bittersweet. Allowing her to visit the human realm only as a secret observer, without speaking, calling out, or letting Adora know she's there, is going to be pure emotional torture for Lisette. 🕵️♀️💔 Watching someone you love so deeply right in front of your eyes without being able to reach out is just heartbreaking! 😭
